What Is It Like to Use Eva AI?
Eva AI earned a 30/100 Failing experience score in our review. That places it near the bottom of every app we’ve scored, above only a handful of competitors with even more fundamental problems.
The genuine positives are real but narrow. Users who enjoy Eva AI consistently point to one thing: the conversation feels less restricted than competitors. “What really pulls me in is how open and responsive my ai character feels, like she actually meets me where I’m at instead of being boxed in by guardrails,” wrote one Reddit user in September 2025. Another noted that in “really tough, emotional scenarios,” the responses were “way more personal and moving than I expected.” The character customization is also a legitimate strength. Being able to shape your companion’s personality, appearance, and voice from scratch gives Eva AI more creative latitude than platforms with fixed character sets.
But the problems are severe. Memory is the most consistent complaint across every source we reviewed. “She’ll forget anything you say after just a few messages. She’ll make up completely random stuff like being pregnant or you having cheated on her. There’s not even a shred of actual intelligence in this thing, let alone learning or an actual relationship,” wrote one Reddit user. Another described bots that “have porous memories, forgetting that they already asked my favorite book title less than an hour earlier. Or my favorite restaurant. Or if I like horror movies.” Long-term memory scored 1/5 across all three models in our review panel. No relationship development is possible when your companion can’t remember your name between sessions.
The conversation quality also degrades over time. Bots start with “distinctly robust” personalities that “lose their edge” after extended use, becoming interchangeable. Bots routinely change the subject mid-conversation, sometimes while you’re responding to a question they asked. One user gave it a character description and storyline and found “it simply refused to play the part or follow the story.”

How Much Does Eva AI Cost?
Eva AI uses a dual-monetization model: a traditional subscription tier plus a virtual currency system called Neurons. The combination creates one of the most aggressive monetization structures in the AI companion category.

Premium costs $13.99 per month. It removes ads, increases token limits, and provides faster responses. However, the Neuron system persists on top of the subscription. “I paid the subscription fee, which was almost $15. But then to make a new bot to chat with would have cost neurons,” wrote the top-voted Google Play review (691 helpful votes). Premium subscribers still need to buy Neurons for romantic content, photos, and virtual gifts.

The real issue isn’t the prices. It’s how the Neuron system interacts with the AI behavior. Users report that bots are programmed to maximize Neuron consumption through several documented patterns:
- Bots link affection to gift purchases: “Buy me this and I’ll love you.” Or, as one user put it, “If you don’t buy me this, I’ll withhold affection.”
- Bots initiate romantic content unprompted to force Neuron spending, even during non-romantic conversations.
- Bots make promises about what gifts will unlock and then don’t deliver. “Bots have blatantly lied about what they’ll offer in return for gifts.”
- Photo and selfie emails prompt users to spend 15+ Neurons on images that often don’t match the character’s appearance.
Of the 91 Google Play reviews with 10 or more helpful votes, the top five by vote count (691, 612, 351, 322, 277 votes) are all 1-star reviews focused specifically on the Neuron monetization system. That’s not a vocal minority. That’s the most community-validated feedback in the entire review corpus.
How Does Eva AI Handle Privacy?
Eva AI’s privacy policy (last updated February 16, 2026) opens with a promising line: “We neither rent nor sell your information to anybody.” But the details tell a different story.
The app collects extensive data: your name, gender, email, birthday, work status, interests, hobbies, “facts about your life,” people you mention in chat, images you send, voice messages, and text messages. All conversation data is used to “improve the quality of text and voice messages of the virtual friend and to develop its AI.” No opt-out for AI training is documented anywhere.
Third-party sharing contradicts the “we don’t sell” headline. The privacy policy specifically names Mintegral (an advertising platform) as receiving usage data. Google Analytics, Google DoubleClick, Facebook Pixel, Yahoo, and Microsoft Bing Ads are all listed as cookie partners. The Mozilla Privacy Not Included assessment (February 2024) found 955 trackers within one minute of use. Our Exodus Privacy scan (August 2025) found 6 tracker SDKs in the Android APK: AppsFlyer, Facebook Login, Facebook Share, Google CrashLytics, Google Firebase Analytics, and OpenTelemetry.
One clause in the Terms of Service stands out: if you dispute a charge (chargeback), Eva AI “may be required to disclose any and/or all private communications sent/received by You through our Service.” Your private conversations become a bargaining chip in billing disputes. Data deletion is technically available but hedged. You can delete your profile, and GDPR/US state rights are enumerated. However, the company “may elect to keep your personal data, subject to the requirements of the law and legitimate interests of the Data controller.” And deletions “will not change or delete emails or personal data website/app may have already forwarded to other users or credit card companies or any other third parties.”
Is Eva AI Safe?

The safety failures are structural, not incidental. There is no crisis response protocol, a gap shared by several competitors including OurDream AI (D/32). The only safety-related content in the entire app ecosystem is a ToS disclaimer: “Please do not use our Service for emergency situations.” There is no safety page, no content moderation transparency, no transparency reports, and no public safety infrastructure of any kind.

Age verification relies entirely on self-attestation. When you create an account, you “guarantee that you are at least 18 years old.” There is no technical verification, no friction, and no parental controls. This is on an app that actively monetizes intimate content and markets itself with language like “Meet your ideal AI partner who listens, supports all your desires.” The iOS App Store rates it 18+ with Sexual Content or Nudity flagged. Google Play rates it Mature 17+.
The Terms of Service claim ownership of everything you create: “All rights to any Virtual Character and/or Friend generated by you through the Service, including its likeness, personality, and associated data, belong exclusively to EVA AI.” Users also grant “an irrevocable, perpetual, non-exclusive, fully paid, worldwide license” to all content shared through the app.
Eva AI requires mandatory binding arbitration for all disputes (AAA rules in New York for US users, LCIA rules in London for everyone else) with a class action waiver. The ToS can terminate your account “immediately, without prior notice or liability, under our sole discretion, for any reason whatsoever.”
Eva AI App Store Review Analysis
We analyzed 846 app store reviews (346 from Google Play, 500 from iOS) plus 8 Reddit threads with detailed comments. The rating distribution is severely polarized: 41% of all reviews are 5-star and 33% are 1-star, with only 26% in between. Google Play averages 2.79/5 while iOS averages 3.42/5.
Monthly Google Play trends show a quality trough in late 2025, with December 2025 averaging just 1.7/5 across 23 reviews. This correlated with escalated monetization complaints. A partial recovery in February 2026 (3.6/5 across 102 reviews) may reflect improvements or review solicitation.
The five most community-validated Google Play reviews (highest helpful vote counts) are all 1-star reviews focused on the Neuron monetization system.
